This project is yet to be set underway at this time. In partnership with Sean Bourke, the proposed idea is to create a website that acts as some-what of a role-playing game where users can interact with one another in various ways including battles, forming teams, chat room type areas and more.

Whilst more is yet to be determined and discussed in greater detail, I can reveal that we plan to use the Google Maps API to globally position players within the game world and allow real time retrieval of their locations to enhance interaction within the website/game. We also envisage an iPhone application to be created that will allow users to log on and complete all the tasks they normally would on a computer but in a sophisticated and compact hand held application.

The basic premis involves a team of both Survivors and Zombies, a player can choose to join either sides. Survivors rely on sourcing from materials on the land and creating/finding weapons along the way to help fight of the Zombie’s who serve, as you would expect, the opposing force. There’s plans for shops within the game that will allow players to gain a competitive advantage, though those who do not play as frequently as others will be granted luxuries such as boosts to their experience (XP) system when they log on. Many other possibilities have been discussed such as long periods of inactivity reducing weapon damage due to degradation or frequently visiting members enduring fatigue which will lower their character’s statistics temporarily and require items to replenish if they wish to continue playing within the same time period with corrected stats.

My role in the project is effectively the design of the website, characters, items, brand, interface and anything else you can imagine visually connected, along with co-creation of the technicalities and playout of the game engine.

Though with a heavy last semester of University it’s production may not be started for a while and once started it’s planned to take some time to complete as we have high standards and an even higher level of performance etiquette required for the final playout of the production which needs to work seemlessly.

Granted – I look forward to getting my mits into some grousome zombie art! Muwahaha!
